When the entire Midwest went belly up, and riots, looting, and disease ravaged most urban areas, the National Guard couldn't do the disaster recovery job it was tasked with. Constantly being deployed to various outbreaks or incidents of civil unrest, they needed to set up in-the-field maintenance and command centers. The ones in downtown Milwaukee have long since been dismantled after the Nat. Guard abandoned them, but on the outskirts of the city, and in smaller communities in the area, these facilities still exist in various states of disrepair and upkeep. For a long time they were regarded as potent scavenging grounds, and as such were feuded and fought over for years after the plague swept the planet. |
